How much does Boarding Buddy cost?
If you have a UK or European registered mobile phone, Boarding Buddy is completely free it won't cost you a penny to receive our text messages.
It may be possible to use Boarding Buddy with a non-European mobile phone, but you should check with your network operator before using the service - they may charge you to receive text messages sent from the UK, and these charges may be expensive.
What information will I receive?
On your departure day, Boarding Buddy will communicate by sending SMS text messages to the mobile phone number you specified when you signed up for the service. You'll receive the following messages:
- We'll confirm your departing terminal, check-in opening time and location approximately 5 hours before departure
- We'll send you a reminder when it's time to board
- We'll keep you informed of any delays that may occur to your departure time
As an additional service, we'll also send you up to 2 exclusive promotional offers from relevant airport retailers via text message.
How do I redeem retail offers?
Boarding Buddy sends you up to 2 exclusive offers from relevant airport retailers. To benefit from the offer you will need to show the text message and a voucher code (if supplied) to the retailer when you purchase your goods.
What if I don't want to use Boarding Buddy after all?
At any time, if you change your mind, you can unsubscribe by following the link in your Boarding Buddy confirmation email. Or, on departure day, simply reply STOP to any of our text messages to opt-out of further communication. Either action will remove you from the Boarding Buddy service. Note that this will not remove you from other Air New Zealand databases.
What flights is Boarding Buddy available on?
Currently you can take advantage of Boarding Buddy on Air New Zealand flights departing from London Heathrow Airport only.
Will Boarding Buddy tell me if my flight is delayed?
Yes, Boarding Buddy will provide delay information if your flight is delayed by more than 60 minutes. Please always check the airport departure boards to see if your flight is delayed or if there are any other changes relevant to your flight. It is your responsibility to be at the boarding gate on time (no later than 30 minutes before scheduled departure).
